Grade 11
Alive in Christ
The liturgy and the seven sacraments in depth, then life in Christ: freedom and the sources of morality, forming conscience, law, sin and grace, and the gift of love and chastity.
Your path through the book
1. Liturgy: Where Heaven Meets Earth
In the liturgy, Christ acts through signs to make His saving work present, and the whole Trinity draws us into worship.
2. Sacraments of Initiation
Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist lay the foundation of Christian life: we are born anew, strengthened and fed.
3. Sacraments of Healing
In Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick, Christ the physician forgives our sins and strengthens us in illness.
4. Sacraments at the Service of Communion
Holy Orders and Matrimony consecrate people to build up the Church and the world through a lifelong gift of self.
5. Freedom and the Moral Life
Made in God's image and called to happiness, we use freedom well by choosing the good; an act's morality depends on its object, intention and circumstances.
6. Forming Your Conscience
Conscience is the voice deep in the heart where we are alone with God; we must form it well and then follow it.
7. Law, Sin and Grace
God's law guides us to happiness; sin wounds us and others, but grace, God's own life in us, heals us and makes us holy.
8. Love, Chastity and the Gift of Self
Human sexuality is a good gift from God; chastity frees us to love others as persons and never use them, whether we are single, married or consecrated.
