Grade 9
Revelation and Jesus Christ
How we can know God, how His Revelation reaches us through Scripture, Tradition and the Church, how to read the Bible well, why the Gospels can be trusted, and who Jesus is: true God and true man, revealing the Trinity and calling for our answer of faith.
Your path through the book
1. Made to Know God
The desire for God is written in the human heart, and human reason can know that God exists; in Jesus, God has revealed Himself fully.
2. Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium
God's Revelation is handed on through Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, and faithfully taught by the Church's Magisterium.
3. Reading the Bible as a Catholic
The Bible is truly God's word in human words; we read it in context, as a whole, and within the Church's living faith.
4. The Gospels: Reliable Witnesses
The Gospels are trustworthy testimonies that faithfully hand on what Jesus did and taught, written so that we may believe.
5. Who Do You Say That I Am?
Jesus' titles, Jesus, Christ, Son of God and Lord, reveal who He is and call for a personal answer.
6. True God and True Man
Jesus is one divine Person with two natures, fully God and fully man, as the councils of the Church taught.
7. The Holy Trinity
The central mystery of our faith is one God in three divine Persons, a communion of love we are invited to share.
8. Faith: Our Answer to God
Faith is our free, personal answer to God who reveals Himself: a gift of grace we nourish through prayer, the sacraments and the Church.
