Grade 12
Living as a Disciple
Faith for adult life: faith and reason, Catholic social teaching, the Gospel of life, care for creation, discerning your vocation, the states of life, unity with other Christians and dialogue with other religions, and being sent on mission after high school.
Your path through the book
1. Faith and Reason
Faith and reason both come from God and cannot truly contradict each other; Catholics can think confidently and explain their hope.
2. Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic social teaching applies the Gospel to society, built on the dignity of every person and the common good.
3. The Gospel of Life
Every human life is sacred from conception to natural death; Christians defend life with truth and compassion.
4. Care for Our Common Home
Creation is God's gift entrusted to our care; caring for the earth and caring for the poor go together.
5. Called by Name: Discerning Your Vocation
Everyone is called to holiness; we discover our particular vocation through prayer, self-knowledge, wise guidance and generosity.
6. States of Life
Marriage, priesthood, consecrated life and single life are each a beautiful way to give one's life in love for God and others.
7. One Body, Many Christians, Many Faiths
The Church seeks unity among all Christians and respectful dialogue with other religions, while joyfully witnessing to Christ.
8. Sent on Mission
Every disciple is sent: after high school, keep your faith alive through prayer, the sacraments, community and service, and share the joy of the Gospel.
