Eighth: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life.” As His followers, we live in the truth.

A lie is saying something false in order to fool someone. Gossip and spreading rumors also go against this commandment, because they can ruin a person's good name, even when the story is true. If we hurt someone's reputation, we should try to make it right.

Being honest can take courage, especially when admitting a mistake. But honesty builds trust, and we can always tell the truth with kindness.

Sixth and ninth: God created us male and female, and our bodies are good. Saint Paul says our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.

These commandments call married people to faithful love, and they call all of us to purity of heart: respecting our own bodies and other people's, dressing and acting with modesty, and choosing good things to watch, read and think about. Jesus said: “Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.”
